SPORTS LEADERS MEET HEROES
On 8 February Mrs Tamehana took a group of girls to Wanganui Collegiate School to hear two Sports Ambassadors speak. We met Cory Hutchings (Ironman Champion) and Katrina Grant (Silver Fern).
Both spoke about their sports careers. We spent time with Cory who inspired us with his belief that you shouldn't give up because things are tough the first time you attempt them. We were reminded that you have to put in the hard yards and really want to achieve your goals.
Cory talked about when we are young our natural talent gets us through but as we reach our teens it gets harder and harder and we have to put in the hours to get to where we want to be. In other words you can't expect to get by with just natural talent your whole life. As Cory said "To be the best you can possibly be you have to eliminate your weaknesses and create a weapon".
