SPEC
SPEC is a student centred subject that offers a variety of programmes across a number of year levels. Students work at their own pace and set their own goals around specific modules and interest.

Students work towards gaining certificates by completing a set number of modules that require them to write action plans, implement these in a practical way and then reflect on how well they have achieved this.

Credit inclusion is granted for demonstration of the three essential skills of

  • Improving own learning 12 Credits
  • Work and Study 4 Credits
  • Problem Solving 4 Credits

Students have the ability to achieve a total of 20 credits. Students work is displayed in a portfolio that they create as part of their evidence for assessment.

Students gain certificates for:

  • Bronze Pre NCEA
  • Silver 20 Credits Level 1
  • Gold 20 Credits Level 2
  • Platinum 20 Credits Level 3

There are also a number of programmes that students work on that are pre NCEA

  • Stepping stones
  • Transition Challenge
  • Towards Independence
