Year 9 Scholarships
Whanganui Girls’ College offers a range of scholarships to support school costs for Year 8 students enrolled to attend Whanganui Girls’ College for Year 9. These scholarships cover the academic, sporting and cultural aspects of schooling. The closing date for applications is 30th October. Application forms are available as part of the school enrolment process and students also undertake general assessments and meet with the Year 9 Dean and a representative of the Whanganui Girls’ College Old Girls’ Association. Ngaire Craig Scholarship
Miss Ngaire Craig, a past student, dux and teacher at Whanganui Girls’ College left her substantial inheritance for the benefit of students who undertake study at university after they leave Whanganui Girls’ College. The criteria of the trust is university study only and for academic students whose financial situation could mean university study would be very difficult.
Nominations for this scholarship also close in October and the successful applicants are announced at our Senior Prize Giving in December.

Ministry of Education Boarding Scholarships
The Ministry provides boarding allowances to help school students facing barriers to attending school and achieving at least level 2 in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) or equivalent.
